Message from the Executive Director
On the beginning of this New Year 2018 and the restructuring of our website, thanks to ECOWAS, I send this message to all African museums and cultural heritage professionals, WAMP financial and institutional partners as well as all friends of the African museums.
In January 2009, following the decision of its Board of Directors, the West African Museum Programme (WAMP)transferred its headquarters from Dakar to Niamey in Niger after twenty-two (22) years in Senegal. But the stay was brief in Niger. Thus, in 2013 the headquarters of the WAMP was officially transferred again, this time to Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso.
These various moves in such a short time did not allow WAMP to communicate with heritage professionals and partners about its actual location and to develop regional projects for the benefit of its members.
The installation of WAMP in Burkina Faso took time considering the official procedures and subsequently because of events that the country experienced in 2014 and 2015 which slowed the start of its activities…Read more
